It is famous for its long resistance against the Mongols, and claiming the life of Mongke Khan (r. 1251-1259), the fourth Khagan of the Mongol Empire. The Diaoyu Fortress site. Moreover, the archaeology of Diaoyu Fortress has won plenty of awards such as the Third Prize of Field Archaeology Award, which is the highest archaeology award in China.
